Living Our Values – Scientific Excellence Spotlight: Khanh Ngo Courtney, Ph.D.

Avomeen’s Living Our Values Awards program provides us with an opportunity to celebrate those who exemplify our core values and guiding principles, and the Scientific Excellence award recognizes a scientist who consistently develops and delivers scientifically advanced solutions. We’re getting to know Khanh Ngo Courtney, the recipient of this award, with a little Q&A:

For those who don’t know you (yet), what do you do at Avomeen?

I am the director of the Biologics Department at Avomeen, a designer of biochemistry and cell biology projects for our clients, and a mentor to young scientists across our organization.

If you could switch your job with anyone else at Avomeen, whose job would you want?

Ty Tessmer, so my title could be “Controller”.

What’s your all-time favorite Avomeen moment or experience?

When everybody at Avomeen showed unity, working together to safely implement the COVID-19 response while ensuring that we still continued to push forward on all of our projects to meet our clients’ needs.

What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?

I do pottery and like to read when I can manage to get my act together, I love spending quality “girl time” with my girlfriends, and I enjoy going fishing and camping with my husband.

What’s your hidden talent?

None that I know of.

Tell us three things most people don’t know about you…

  1. I was born in Vietnam and came to the USA when I was 8 years old
  2. I have a cat video that was picked up by the media a few years ago
  3. I listen to country music and my favorite artists are Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton
