We have big brains, but did you know we have big hearts too? Our team is committed to giving back and supporting the community in which we live and work. To kick-off Avomeen’s community involvement initiatives in 2019, a food and fund drive, aptly named “Giving is our Jam”, was held from April 15-May 3 in support of Food Gatherers, an Ann Arbor, Michigan-based organization determined to alleviate hunger and its causes in our community.
With a corporate dollar-for-dollar and pound-for-pound match, our team came together to donate a total of $2,514 and 120 pounds of food! Individual employee donations were recognized with food-themed certificates on our Giving is our Jam wall. For each donation made, they were recognized for being “kind of a big dill”, “figgin’ awesome”, “amaizing”, and our personal favorite, “one in a melon”.The grand totals were revealed to the staff at a company-wide huddle, with the unveiling of what we’ve dubbed “the big check” as pictured below. In addition to monetary and food donations, employees donated hundreds of dollars by giving the cash value of their “North Star Notes”, Avomeen’s peer-to-peer recognition program, to the food and fund drive. Their generosity in donating the value of their North Star Notes to a charitable organization, rather than redeeming for items and experiences in the “North Star Note Redemption Catalog” (which includes skydiving for our more adventurous colleagues), inspired our Leadership team to revise the Redemption Catalog to include 10 charitable organizations to which employees can donate any time of the year.
We are thankful to each and every person who donated to the food and fund drive, and we think you’ll agree that our team really is kind of a big dill!
